Growing Together
Seeds of Connection
Submission Deadline: April 1st, 2025
Notification: April 19th, 2025
Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre invites members to submit artworks to this year’s Annual Juried Exhibition group show responding to the theme: Growing Together: Seeds of Connection.

Artists are invited to submit work for Growing Together: Seeds of Connection, an exhibition that explores the interconnectedness of nature, sustainable practices, and community. This exhibition seeks to highlight the delicate balance between the environment and the people who care for it, showcasing how our collective actions shape the world around us. Artists are encouraged to submit pieces that contemplate ecological preservation and the bonds formed within communities. Through diverse media and creative approaches, we aim to showcase how the power of art can inspire reflection, action, and a shared commitment to nurturing both the land and one another.
We welcome submissions in a wide variety of media, including but not limited to video, sound, painting, photography, textiles, sculpture, written texts, zines, prints, and performances. Essentially, if it can be presented in a gallery setting, it can be submitted for consideration by the jury. We also welcome small-scale site-specific installations and murals as submissions to the Annual Juried Exhibition.
The exhibition will run in the Main Gallery from May 17th to July 29th, 2025. Selected works must arrive in the gallery, ready for display, no later than Friday, May 9th. Keep this date in mind if you are creating new works!
Artists can submit up to three distinct works for consideration. Works that are inherently meant to be presented together, such as a series, will be considered as one work.
To discuss the theme or if you have any questions about the submission requirements, please send us an email at info@modernfuel.org well in advance of the deadline. If you need to submit anything in an alternate format or require other accommodations, please let us know and we will be happy to help.
The jury will consist of Modern Fuel community members, staff, and practicing artists from the Board of Directors. Artists that are selected to participate in the show must present the works that they have submitted to the jury. The selected artists will be paid artist-fees according to the CARFAC Fee Schedule for their participation in the exhibition.
Special Note: The Annual Juried Exhibition is open to Modern Fuel members only. To renew your membership or become a member, visit www.modernfuel.org/become-a-member.
